How we present licensed Scripture
From prescribed commercial notices to public domain — a sample of how every version is credited
Every Bible version in SmartGroups is either licensed from its publisher or public domain — and every one is displayed with its notice, reproduced verbatim. The notices below render from the same records the app displays.
Rights holders reasonably ask how their text will be treated before it ships. Our answer: a copyright notice attached to every version record, shown wherever the text is read, carried into every export — and, where a publisher prescribes exact wording and a clickable link, reproduced to the letter. Below is a representative sample — not a catalog — grouped by license regime, hardest case first, across translation styles and languages from Swahili to Chinese, Thai, Persian, Swedish, and Japanese.

Mandated commercial notice
All-rights-reserved texts whose publishers prescribe exact notice wording. We reproduce it verbatim, and links back to the rights holder are live links.

Public domain
Stated plainly — and never claimed where we are unsure. The Japanese Colloquial Version below shipped only after we verified its term had actually expired, correcting our own record that had cautiously over-claimed all-rights-reserved.
King James Version, 1611; 1769 Blayney edition. Public domain.
World English Bible. Dedicated to the public domain by Michael Paul Johnson / eBible.org. Public domain.
聖書 口語訳 — Japanese Colloquial Version. 日本聖書協会 (Japan Bible Society), 1954 (NT) / 1955 (OT). Public domain: the copyright term expired in 2005.
A rights holder can inspect their own text in the working product — reading view, side-by-side, footnotes, attribution — before any public release, from a single link. No signup required.
